Decompression walks

Decompression walks are like mental health breaks for your dog. Unlike regular neighborhood walks, these adventures take place in low-stress environments away from triggers, allowing your dog to explore, sniff, and relax. Incorporating these walks into your routine helps reduce anxiety, improve focus during training sessions, and build your dog's confidence.

My decompression walk service includes:

  • Carefully selected quiet routes away from urban stressors

  • Long-lines (leashes) for safe exploration

  • Integration with your behavior modification plan

  • Skills to continue effective decompression walks on your own

This service is particularly valuable for dogs working through reactivity, anxiety, or overstimulation issues, providing them with the mental reset needed to make progress in their training journey.

When you book a decompression walk with me:

  • We will agree on a pick-up and drop-off location (this could be your home).

  • I will spend approximately one-hour with your dog at an agreed-upon location, chosen in order to encourage sniffing, relaxation, and other doggy behaviors.

  • I will use a long leash to allow your dog maximum freedom while staying safe.

  • I will send you a photo of your pup enjoying his/her time in nature.

  • I will drop-off a happy and tired doggo.

FAQs

  • Each session costs $99. It includes pick-up and drop-off at a mutually agreed upon location and up to an hour of outdoor time.

  • Each decompression walk is a customized journey for your precious pup, with only me and the dog.

  • The primary goal of this walk is allowing your dog to decompress. To that end, any training on this walk will be minimal. Of course, I will not allow your dog to practice any undesirable behaviors (we can discuss what these might be before the walk), but this will mostly be due to my ability to set your dog up for success.

  • We will discuss your dog’s health and what temperature ranges are safe for your dog to be outdoors for significant amounts of time. In general, walks will be cancelled if the temperature is below 20°F or above 90°F, there is inclement weather (including but not limited to thunderstorms, heavy rain, ice, or snow), or the heat index or wind chill makes it unsafe for outdoor activity.
